A study utilizing the research resources of BioBank Japan (BBJ) has been published in the international scientific journal Nature.
A joint research team led by Assistant Professor Shinichi Namba and Professor Yukinori Okada of the Graduate School of Medicine at the University of Tokyo conducted a comprehensive cross-sectional analysis of 980,004 individuals from international biobanks including BBJ to investigate interactions between genetic and environmental factors such as age, sex, and lifestyle habits. As a result, the team identified 94 gene–environment (G×E) interaction effects across a wide range of human phenotypes and environmental factors. The reproducibility of these G×E effects was verified in diverse populations, demonstrating their consistency across populations.
